Bitcoin evokes many changes in the nature of money, how transactions can be conducted, and social changes. One of the first examples of digital money disrupting established players in cross-border payments (often called "remittances"). Where Western Union charged significant fees, Bitcoin (or often Lightning Network) offer fast and low cost money transmission.

One of the best examples of disruption is the Nostr protocol which offers services like social media, long form publishing, and other sharing. Notably it has built in an ability to "zap" or send micro-transactions. It is eliminating a middleman company or service and creating a direct person to person linkage. It is building community and connections directly between content creators and their audiences.

The opportunity to disrupt exists were people have friction in interacting person-to-person or person-to-business. Bitcoin can be used as a way to transfer value in large or tiny amounts. Bitcoin is still very early days and many opportunities exist to disrupt existing ways of doing things.
